2022 Toyota Tacoma Prices, Reviews, and Pictures

The Toyota Tacoma pickup truck is a popular midsize pickup truck. It’s compact and strong, packed full of features. The Tacoma is available in both family-friendly and offroad trims. It also includes all the towing and hauling power that most customers will need. This small truck is easy to maneuver around town and has a higher fuel consumption than larger trucks. Standard safety features for drivers are included. It is a safe choice because of its rugged components and comfortable interior.

The Toyota Tacoma is a well-rounded pickup. The pickup is strong enough to handle heavy work and towing. While the interior features standard technology and refinement, it’s also durable. You can choose from two lengths of the bed, and tie-down cleats are available for large items. The modular design of the bed resembles an offroad racing truck. TRD trims offer excellent all-terrain capabilities. Although the Limited model is luxurious and has many convenience features, it can be quite expensive. Crew cabs have a spacious interior. The extended-cab’s rear seat space is small and uncomfortable for short trips. The Tacoma is an excellent choice for its class because of its combination of comfort and ruggedness.

Trims and Pricing

The Tacoma is available in six trim levels. You can also choose the length of your bed, cab size, drivetrains and engines. There are 33 configurations available to choose from.

The base SR trim can be used as a work vehicle. The base SR trim starts at $26,500. It packs all the utility and hauling power one needs without adding too many frills. It is well-equipped with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, variable windshield wipers as well as cloth seats, sliding rear windows, and a 7-inch touchscreen. You get driver safety features such as adaptive cruise control and lane departure alert, automatic emergency braking, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, and adaptive brake control. Owners can quickly secure their cargo with the four tie-down points on the bed’s deck rail system.

If you are looking for popular features at a low price, the SR5 is a great choice. The MSRP is $28,290 and includes an 8-inch touchscreen, a power sliding rear window, leather steering wheel, fog lamps, a limited slip differential, and remote keyless access.

Toyota Racing Development, Toyota’s performance division, is the inspiration behind the TRD Sport. The base price of $33,410 includes a wireless phone charger, proximity keyless access, LED daytime running lamps, and sporty exterior accents such as a scoop on the hood, an in-bed 120V power outlet with leather trim, a shift knob with leather trimming, and wide-angle fog light.

The TRD Off-Road, which retails for $34,690 is designed for difficult trails. It comes with an electronically-locking rear differential, selectable driving modes based on terrain difficulty, a 10-way power driver’s seat, machined alloy wheels, and rugged tires.

The Limited Tacoma ($39,255) is the most expensive. The Limited comes with a panoramic-view camera and polished alloy wheels. There are also chrome exterior accents and color-keyed bumpers.

For the most challenging off-road conditions, the top-of-the line TRD Pro ($45935) is available. It features Fox shock absorbers and a front skid plate. A Cat-Back exhaust system is also included. Reinforced LED fog lights are included.

Performance and Engine

Although there are two engines available, the V6 is significantly more powerful and can haul heavier loads with little fuel consumption. Toyota offers both four-cylinder and six-cylinder engines in the Tacoma. Each engine is mated with a six speed automatic transmission and either two- or four wheel-drive. The 2.7-liter four-cylinder produces 159 horsepower and 180 poundfeet torque. The 3.5-liter V6 produces 278 HP and 265 poundfeet. Each should average 21 mpg, according to the EPA.

The Tacoma can run on regular unleaded diesel fuel, just like other small trucks. It can burn 21.1 gallons of fuel.

When equipped with the V6 engine and Towing Package, the Tacoma can tow 6,800 pounds. The payload ranges between 1,000-1,500 lbs.

The interior of the Tacoma is comfortable and chunky. The interior feels real, with its squared-off shapes. There are large controls you can press even while wearing gloves. The interior is similar to those found in the larger Tundra pickup truck or 4Runner SUV, which are both well-known for their tough durability.

Although the interior isn’t as modern as other rivals, a large touchscreen, smartphone applications, and driver safety aids keep the Tacoma technologically ahead of the rest. TRD trims include a contrast fabric, or leather seats with enhanced support in the TRD Pro.
