2022 Volvo S90 Prices, Reviews, and Pictures

The 2022 Volvo S90 luxury sedan is attractive in its class, earning high marks for design and comfort. However, there are some competitors that offer a smoother and more comfortable ride.

Overview

The 2022 Volvo S90’s sheet steel is sleek and elegant. It represents the highest point of minimalist Scandinavian design. The S90 is just as attractive, and it costs less than European counterparts. A slight refresh was made to the exterior, adding some new technology, and minor styling updates such as revised headlights and new wheel designs.

The Lexus ES and Mercedes-Benz E-Class are smoother and more refined than their competitors. The Genesis G80 is a better choice if you need a large touchscreen. Overall, we give the S90 our vote for its modern elegance.

Pricing and Trims

There are three levels of the Volvo S90: Momentum, RDesign, or Inscription. In a separate review, we will also cover the Volvo S90 Recharge plug in hybrid. The most popular trim is the Inscription. It’s the Momentum trim, which is the base model that we recommend. It will make most buyers happy, and we’ll tell you why.

Momentum

Momentum starts at $51,850, which includes a $1045 destination fee. The Momentum comes with 18-inch wheels, an 8-inch touchscreen, adaptive led headlights, heated front seats and dual-zone automatic climate control. It also features Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone connectivity, blind spot warning, and Lane-Keeping Assist. There are two options: a surround-view and a head-up display.

The Momentum trim has essential features such as blind spot warning and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone connectivity. It’s also affordable for the base trim. It deserves our recommendation because of these factors.

R-Design

The R-Design starts at $55,695. The R-Design trim includes 19-inch wheels, distinctive exterior accents and four-zone automatic climate control. It also comes with a Harman Kardon 14-speaker stereo. You can add a heated steering wheel or a head-up display as options.

Inscription

Inscription trim on the S90 starts at $55,695. The Inscription trim includes ventilated front seats as well as power-adjustable sides seat supports. There are also options for a heated steering wheel or a surround-view camera.

Performance and Engine

The Volvo S90 is standard with a turbocharged, supercharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. It produces 316 horsepower and 295 pounds-feet torque.

All S90 sedans come standard with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Although the S90 feels solidly planted on the road, there are times when vibrations and bumps can get into the cabin.

The Lexus ES is the luxury midsize car that offers the best ride quality and comfort. High marks are also given to the Genesis G80 for its ride comfort and refinement. The handling of the S90 is still good enough to satisfy most drivers.

Interior

You’ll notice the Volvo S90’s comfortable seats whether you have been driving for a few minutes or a long time. Supportive seats are a great choice for those with shoulder or back problems. The stunning cabin design is another strength. The interior of the S90 is elegant and sophisticated, with a modern yet classic aesthetic.

The S90 offers 40.4 inches of legroom for rear-seat passengers. This is more than the BMW 5 Series’ legroom.

The trunk of the S90 has enough space for groceries and luggage. The cargo capacity is 13.5 cubic feet. This is in line with the Audi A6’s cargo space.

Connectivity and Infotainment

The Volvo S90’s infotainment system has been updated to Google’s Android Automotive, which makes use of Google’s maps and assistant to offer a variety of features. The interface is easy to use and has a tablet-like look. The setup is very intuitive.

Base models come with Wi-Fi connectivity and navigation. There are a few premium sound systems on the options list.

The standard Volvo S90 has a 9-inch touchscreen. This is smaller than the touchscreen on the Cadillac CT5 and Genesis G80.
